One group of pupils has spent time surveying the old airfield site.We have driven round the base and looked at the remaining buildings and also other landmarks.
Hidden away from view you can still go onto the old runways, see the generating station, drive through the bomb storage area, visit the hospital and mortuary, drive around some of the service roads, sit on a bunker, see the remains of the cinema and shop, see the sewerage plant and water treatment plant (still operational!) and many other places.
